Project #1: Double front door refurbishment

Recently we were approached by Grant and Stephie with the request if we could help save these Georgian double doors. Their usual builders had proposed a complete replacement at a cost of 2400 pounds. So Grant and Stephi were looking for an alternative approach. Complete replacement rather than refubishment is a perfectly defensible idea if you don't have the necessary means at your disposal. We at Oldwood's are dedicated to maintain rather than replace with the help of specialist equipment and expertise. Therefore, we came up with a different approach. We suggested to strip off the paint from both doors and then repair them, replacing the bottom rails stiles and panels with timber of a similar age, yellow pine, a very good outdoor wood. Grant and Stephie agreed, so two weeks later they received back a pair of refurbished doors (see below), along with a bill of only 750 pounds. Grant and Stephie were delighted.
